Wood Nymphs

All photographs copyright:Shrinky

Look what I found hiding out in the glen.

Wild, fey creatures difficult to capture..

A little feral,

Easy to flight..

They evade human contact

Prefer their own kind.

But with a lot of patience

And gentle handling

Research has proved

Pocket money and home cooking can usually coax them indoors.

Do they believe in inter species dating?

Breathtaking photos! I especially like the close up of their eyes.
Spill! What kind of camera are you using these days, and do you get ths softened effect after in editing, or as you are shooting?
I ask because I want to take some of my wood nymph here! :))

sj,

much to my concern, I believe they do..

Gee Rachelle, thanks! I use the digital cannon 350, but they are hugely altered and played around with on photoshop. We had great fun doing this "shoot", it was impromptu - they girls were playing "dress-up" (no, they don't go out looking like that), and I managed to grab them.

They are absolutely beautiful wood nymphs. Great photography, too. But what I appreciate the most is your willingness to share the love and companionship you all enjoyed while doing this. I especially like the realization that two ten sisters and their mother managed to get along with each other for a protracted period of time.

Quilly,

I have to fess up, my youngest daughter was up at the house, this is of my eldest daughter and a friend (my daughters rarely agree to do much of anything together)!

Please don't make a lecherous old man have licentious thoughts about your own flesh! Kind of like those leather pants!

Nice shots for sure.

Shrinky said...

Mushy,

(Laughing) Here's a bucket of cold water for you (whispering) these kids are 12!!

(I don't let her wear my leather pants..)

Shrinky, that is absolutely amazing! You know, I shall be out in the woods at dawn at Beltane (May Day Eve, 30 April) looking for nymphs just like them! It is my next real festival, a quarter day 'twixt the Equinox (Ostara) and the Solstice (Litha).

Are they Tailesscatland nymphs? Do you think they could fly across to Mintcakeland for Beltane, d'you s'pose?

I was just about to say something similar to what Mushy said.

*SPLASH*

There. I provided my own bucket of cold water.

12!...naw...you see, this is why women shouldn't put their little girls in those beauty contests!

Shrinky said...

Maalie,

Beltane, the fire festival, celebrating the fertility of the coming year? I fear I shall be clipping their wings before allowing them to flit off to that one! (Sorry)

Shrinky said...

Hi Angel, thanks for stopping by, thanks for the kind words.

Shrinky said...

Hi Suldog,

yeah, scary huh? I hasten to add, there is no way on Gods green earth I would allow them seen out in public like this - this was just a "dress up" bit of fun. Even I did a double take when I processed these pics. (Gulp)

Mushy,

I couldn't agree more, these babies look closer to twenty than twelve in the get up's they are in. They are thrilled with the result - me? I enjoyed the shoot, it was hilarious fun, but it has also spooked me a bit with how mature they look on camera.

I just want to put it on record - they never go out in pubic like this - honest folks!

Shrinky,
Wonderful fairy tale shots. Reminds me of Annie Leibovitz.

(not Diane Arbus, that's why I deleted my previous comment)

A lot better lookin' "fairies of the forest" than some damned bunch of GARDEN-GNOMES, which I still say make better TARGETS, than DECORATIONS!

I've yet to find anything like these nymphs in MY woods.

But I sure have found more than my share of TROLLS, while in there...!

Cath said...

Wow Shrinky they are not only great photos but beautiful girls! The make up is stunning. They are natural models and you a natural photographer!

Excellent commentary - love the ending. So true. So true.

Watch out world... (smile)

Splendid work here, Shrinky! I am quite impressed with you "captures," but with the artistry of the painter as well. Well done indeed!

Love you...

Shrinky said...

Robert,

Yes, a little bribe here or there is a sure fire lure to tame these critters!

Shrinky said...

Ah Dan,

Why thank you kindly sir! (Taking a bow)

Shrinky said...

Chewy,

Having now seen some of her work, I only can but wish! Smile.

Shrinky said...

Haha, Bruno,

I'm sure there are a fair few Trolls around these parts too, I just try to ignore them!

Shrinky said...

Thank you John-Michael, I am rather pleased with how this batch came out, I have to say. It's all trial and error, but it's good fun practising.

PRH said...

Interesting Photos.....guess I best leave it at that....

;)

Shrinky said...

Pat,

Aw c'mon, they're just a bit artsy that all! (Shove!)

Great shots! It's amazing what the little girls look like nowadays. Don't remember them looking like that back when. Some of the girls in my high school class dress like that for school. It's like they look forward to bein' on that pole when they "grow up".

*Goddess* said...

I love that third pic, and I FINALLY remembered to change your blog addy. Oy! I'm behind the times.

Shrinky said...

I know Jeff, it's a scary prospect being the mother of a would be nymph..

Shrinky said...

Hey there Goddess, I sure have missed 'ya!

Most folk prefer number two in these shots, but funnily enough, number three is my fave too (good taste, see)!

Shrinky you're a marvel. Thank you so much for your clever use of captions and photos to tell a dleightful story.

wonderful, it must have been SUCH fun doing this!

Shrinky, what amazing photos, your daughters have beautiful eyes. One pair blue, the other brown. Love the make up it looks like you all had great fun. Debs

Shrinky said...

Aw Catmoves, the pleasure was all mine, believe me.

Shrinky said...

Hi Debs,

hey, you've been rummaging around in my attics! (grin).

Confession here, the brown eyed girl is my one, the other is her friend. Although it is true both my girls have brown eyes, yet both my sons have the clearest of blue ones. Me? Mine are green. Go figure!

Fireblossom said...

This is SO CUTE! The little headings are perfect, Shrinky, you're an ace.

I want a pigment sunburst around MY eye!

Catmoves said...

OK, Shrinky. I wanna see you tap dance on a coffee table. You just not might want to use ours (it has glass inlaid).
However, if you let us take pics, we'll buy a solid one for you.
