Meet The Wheelie-Bin, my new(ish) knight in shining armour. Isn't he handsome? No more snow day's stuck indoors for me anymore, don't ya' know he's got a four wheel drive?
Well, it had to happen. Our trusty old Tardis went senile a long time back, flashing "Deflated Tyres", beeping "Gear Malfunction", and spewing all kinds of hissy-fits and lies other dire warnings out across the consul. Despite many frequent check-up's and much tender loving care, sadly, her marbles had plum up and left her. Then when she went and developed that awful hacking cough, we knew it was all over.
The poor girl needed needed a carer, not an abuser, it was well after time for her trade in.
The Wheelie-Bin's boot is too high a challenge for Jake to leap, I had to invest in a ramp to allow him access. It cost slightly shy of a kings ransom, too (£90)!!
Yeah, and is he grateful?
Hmph.
It takes the youngest shoving him from behind (him farting in distress), and me
By the time he's loaded, we are all too knackered to much consider any kind of a run. Oh, and it appears he has no trouble at all jumping OUT of the boot.. muttermutter
Still, practise makes perfect. He's at least stopped with the farting now. The youngest is just glad he isn't a horse, they must kick and poo something chronic before being trained to walk up a horse-trailer!
And have you seen the length of this darn thing? I need the parking space of a juggernaut to erect that contraption. I've not yet been brave enough to drive out to the beach, I'm too nervous people will laugh at me wrestling Jake into the boot, and besides, like I say, parking is at a premium there, it's doubtful I'll find a place big enough to dock us all in.
Thankfully, it does fold to a third it's size, but ye Gods it's heavy! I have to be VERY careful, amidst a few other things I'm awaiting a bone-density scan, and am leery of fracturing a limb or two whilst traipsing out and about in the wild beyond.
(I also recently found out I apparently have a freaking kidney stone the size of an apple needing removal First I have to turn tea-total for my liver to improve - sheesh - so here I am even denied the comfort of my wee drop of wine of a night - ah, but enough of all of this, I'm digressing..)
So for now I've resorted to kidnapping the youngest (for support), to explore glens and woodlands I've never set foot in before. There are a lot to the north of the isle we're still discovering.
With the weather in the mid-70's, it's a perfect way to get used to handling The Wheelie Bin, as well as to discover a secluded enough spot to run Jake up the plank, without fear of arrest.
Look what I found at the heart of Glen Helen - there is no sign or explanation as to why it is there. It faces onto a waterfall. Isn't it gorgeous?
Maybe this is where the fairies hold court?
